Yesterday was my first real setback with the biphasic experiment so far. I played basketball for 3 hours last night, till abut 1 am. I should have adjusted for the fitness and went to sleep 90 minutes earlier, as I said I would. But I didn’t. And guess what? I woke up this morning at 11:30 am instead of 7 am. That’s a full 4.5 hours more than I was supposed to sleep.
All in all yesterday went fine, up until this morning of course. I didn’t feel tired, I hung out with friends, got a lot of reading done, and worked on each of my websites a little bit. My thoughts of the experiment so far are as follows:
Biphasic sleep isn’t difficult as long as it is well monitored and adjusted when needed. It allows me so many more hours of each day, which means plenty of more experiences and chances for growth. That is really exciting. Mentally it takes a bit out of you at first, and it is difficult when first waking up, but 15 minutes later you are good to go. I will say however that I miss sleeping. I love the comfort of my bed, and getting less sleep than before sometimes makes me miss my bed. That’s why I’ve taken to reading in my bed, to help with the transition.
Emotional State: normal
Mental State: alert
Physical State: all systems go
Feelings about Biphasic: a minor setback today, but I’ll continue
Productivity: GTD
Diet: starting to normalize. I ate breakfast yesterday as usual, and my appetite s returning to a normal state.
So that’s it for day 4. Onto day 5, hopefully all will go well.
