After the lapse I had yesterday I skipped my evening nap. This made up for lost time. I went to sleep at 4 am again and had no problem waking up at 7 am. Yesterday was fantastic (after the whole sleeping in thing). I didn’t feel tired the entire day, and I did a lot of great things. I went on a boat ride with some great friends, barbequed afterwards, and played some video games.
I didn’t hit the gym yesterday, though I probably should have. My shins were still hurting from the night before, so I decided to let them rest up.
Emotional State: super excited
Mental State: highly...

Yesterday was my first real setback with the biphasic experiment so far. I played basketball for 3 hours last night, till abut 1 am. I should have adjusted for the fitness and went to sleep 90 minutes earlier, as I said I would. But I didn’t. And guess what? I woke up this morning at 11:30 am instead of 7 am. That’s a full 4.5 hours more than I was supposed to sleep.
All in all yesterday went fine, up until this morning of course. I didn’t feel tired, I hung out with friends, got a lot of reading done, and worked on each of my websites a little bit. My thoughts of the...

Yesterday was the 3rd day of my biphasic sleep experiment. All in all it was a great day. I got a lot of reading done, and I still spent time with friends. I have been testing my logical mind a lot these last few days, just to keep on top of things and test for change, and I have to say I feel as though my mind works through problems and comes up with solutions a bit faster. I cannot prove this, but I feel less sluggish getting the old brain to work.
I even came up with an idea for my next Brain Vault experiment. I’ll share the details as soon as I draft them.
I did feel a bit sluggish...

I just finished the second day of my biphasic sleep experiment. I am still in high spirits. One thing to note though, when my alarm clock went off this morning I really didn’t want to get out of bed (as if I ever do). I actually considered calling in to work, until my mind really woke up and I realized that regardless of my work schedule I wouldn’t allow myself to go back to sleep. This experiment is bigger than me now. Too many people want to see biphasic fail. Well I wont let that happen.
Yesterday evening was great. I felt energetic right up until about 20 minutes until my...

Introduction: For my first lifehack experiment I thought I’d try something that is controversial as far as research shows. Many researchers disagree on whether polyphasic sleep is effective, or for that matter even safe. But I’m the kind of guy that is willing to try anything in order to further my effectiveness and enhance my lifestyle. Thus the idea for my biphasic experiment.
I first came across polyphasic sleep from Steve Pavlina and LifeHack.org. It seemed like a really cool idea, but my schedule didn’t seem to coincide well with the restrictions of the polyphasic...
